Did supportive
housing and services help you to transform your life?
The Campaign for Mental Health
Housing is gathering success stories from all over New York State of
people with psychiatric disabilities who were helped through
supportive housing programs and services. Your personal story will
offer hope to people living with mental illness and help to educate
the public that, with the proper support, people with psychiatric
disabilities can live active lives in the community. We welcome
stories from individuals and organizations.
If you have a personal story to
share please e-mail us at info@campaign4housing.org.
We will notify you if your story is chosen for this website. We
reserve the right to edit your story. The identity of individuals
will be kept confidential. To assist you in writing your story, we
offer the following suggestions:
Limit your story to
250 words or less;
- Describe what you
went through in dealing with mental illness.
- Describe your living
situation prior to your participation in supportive housing.
Were you homeless? Did you reside in an institution or prison?
Did you live with family members?
- Provide any personal
information that you think is important such as your age,
gender, ethnicity, employment status or other details.
- Describe how
supportive housing and services helped you to improve your life.
